Our History

Preserving the Past

Preserving the Past

James Dunkerton offered the railroad company the right of way across his Iowa farm.  The railroad would be required to pay for the land unless they built a depot on the land and named it Dunkerton.  His offer was accepted, grading began in August and was completed on December 1, 1886.

Donations Needed!!

Donations/memberships of $250 or more receive a leaf on the donor tree.  Charter members are noted with acorns on their leaves.

The donation tree and background were crafted by Dennis Magee.  The trunk is from walnut collected by Raleigh Magee, the brown boards from Max Stender's barn and the red boards were salvaged after the 2008 tornado destroyed Tom Magee's barn.

Ross Jones creates and installs the leaves for the tree.
